Software AG earns highest overall score for "Current Offering"

MIAMI, Nov 03, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- --Comprehensive evaluation of ten vendors addressed 106 criteria and included an in-depth analysis of webMethods BPMS
--Report: "Software AG received high scores across the board and provided excellent customer references"

Software AG, a global leader in business infrastructure software, today announced that it was recognized as a 'Leader' in the recently published The Forrester Wave(TM): Integration-Centric Business Process Management Suites, Q4 2008 (October 6, 2008). Software AG also earned the highest overall score for "Current Offering" within this comprehensive evaluation of ten vendor offerings for the Integration-Centric Business Process Management Suites (IC-BPMS) market. Complimentary copies of the report can be found at www.SoftwareAG.com/Award.

According to the report, "Software AG acquired webMethods in 2007 and has since augmented webMethods original offering through the availability of the powerful CentraSite repository product (which Software AG and Fujitsu developed jointly). Software AG received high scores across the board and provided excellent customer references, which have been corroborated through numerous Forrester discussions with webMethods users over the past two years."(1)

"We view SOA and BPM as two sides of the same coin. Core to our strategy of providing customers with maximum business value is to bring together agile SOA based IT architecture coupled with a powerful approach to business automation and business optimization. We are proud to be a named a leader in this latest Forrester Wave for IC-BPMS," said Dr. Peter KA 1/4rpick, Chief Product Officer and member of the Executive Board, Software AG. "webMethods BPMS is distinguished by its enterprise-class performance, ease-of-use, comprehensive feature set and support for cross-enterprise collaboration. Our customers have found that this rich feature set, combined with our proven scalability, have made it a very powerful, yet cost-effective platform in which to standardize all of their process improvement initiatives. At the end of the day, they're able to achieve their business objectives faster with webMethods BPMS."

In addition to the top score for "Current Offering", Software AG also earned the highest scores within three of four subcategories, including "integration", "business process management", and "service-oriented architecture". Within the "Strategy" section, the company was recognized with the highest scores in two -- "solution cost" and "customer references" -- of four subcategories.

In discussing the market's maturation, Forrester noted that "[i]t is becoming increasingly clear that the availability of these types of tools is enabling enterprises to simultaneously improve operational efficiency and support business innovation. For example, Florida Community College Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla., implemented the webMethods BPMS from Software AG and was able to revamp its development organization with a new SOA-based environment that supports end-user participation in the design of new systems, provides integration and process improvement capabilities, and reduces overall development time by over 50%."(2)

Software AG was previously recognized as a 'Leader' by Forrester within The Forrester Wave(TM): SOA Service Life-Cycle Management, Q1 2008 (January 28, 2008).
